The former reflects upon MonsoonвЂ™s remarks on the never ending memes in society and how violence and hatred will never cease to exist, and while it makes sense for MonsoonвЂ™s character in-context, by itself it sounds a comes off as trying a little too hard to sound mature and meaningful, or as some people colloquially refer to, itвЂ™s a bit too edgy. The worst offenders by far, in my opinion, are The Stains of Time and Collective Consciousness. All of the character themes have a negative feel to them, meaning that while songs can get your blood pumping, they may not exactly be considered uplifting by any means. However, while the vocalists are extremely talented and bring the character of each song to life, the actual lyrics themselves are by far the weakest part of the OST.

Another notable song is Blade WolfвЂ™s theme: I am my own master now, which reflects his desire to be free from the reigns of Desperado, who are pretty big jerks to the poor Cyber-wolf. Anyone who has played the Metal Gear Ray boss fight knows exactly why Rules of Nature is a legendary song in itself. While the instruments helped established the outline of a character in each song, its the vocals that really bring these characters to life and feel like the songs are alive. The soundtrack contains a variety of vocals from artists, including Jason Miller, Graemare Cornies, Free Dominiguez, and so on. This is referring to the instruments alone, however, as I have yet to talk about another key part of the soundtrack, namely the vocals. As corny as it sounds, no two pieces truly sound the same, meaning that each person will have at least one theme that they really enjoy.

By comparison, the Metal Gear Ray is an extremely large Unmanned nuclear weapon (or UMG, according to the game) that is capable of firing missiles, plasma beams as well as other methods of mass destruction and as such its piece Rules of Nature has a slower pace in favor of using deeper synths to recreate the large scale and awesome power of Metal Gear Ray. For instance, MonsoonвЂ™s boss fight is extremely fast-paced вЂ“ requiring the player to slice up various objects that Monsoon throws at you while roaming around the arena to try and damage him вЂ“ and as such his theme The Stains of Time has an extremely fast tempo that contains guitar shredding solos and fast drum beats to keep the playerвЂ™s blood pumping and their adrenaline levels high. Many of the songs in the soundtrack are linked to the various boss characters within the game, which Raiden has to fight against as the game progresses, and each song reflects the character in some way or other. True to its nature, the soundtrack contains a metal theme which mixes traditional instruments such as drums and the electric guitar with numerous electronic synths which creates soundtrack that honestly has an extremely unique feel to it, despite the fact that it follows the generally traditional style of metal / rock that most people who regularly listen to these songs have grown attuned to. ItвЂ™s about as insane as it sounds, if not moreso, and I bloody well love it. You do this, of course, by taking on nanomachine-enhanced cyborgs and giant Metal Gears and using your High Frequency blade to slice everything in your way into countless pieces which will inevitably result in near all of them exploding.
